The Freiraum Festival 2020 Online Summit was made possible thanks to the mobile studio, a tool for the collaborative creation of meaningful -online- content, that combines the possibilities of a tv-studio and video-conference platform.
ABOUT THE MOBILE STUDIO
The Mobile Studio is a compact broadcasting studio, that enables live recording, editing and broadcasting, eliminating the need for post-production and using simple and affordable equipment. It is a fresh approach to the collaborative production and distribution of audiovisual content, since it does not require particularly specialised knowledge or expensive equipment. It is purposefully easy to learn, so that the emphasis is directed towards the content itself, and towards the exploration of the possibilities simple technologies give to produce meaningful content, when they are imaginatively put together. Specifically for the online summit, the mobile studio became the central node of a network of live communication with the speakers, the audience and the Freiraum partners, represented and brought together by the two hosts/masters of the ceremony and the entire supporting crew.
The Mobile Studio is a tool of Goethe-Institut Thessaloniki and ArtBOX, in the context of Common Lab -a Goethe-Institut Excellency project. It was initially conceptualised in the context of the project Artecitya (2014-2018) by Goethe-Institut Thessaloniki and ArtBOX, and later further developed and built through ArtBOX's project LABattoir with the support of Goethe-Institut Thessaloniki. It is based on the innovative mobile studio created by Hyperwerk Institute of Post-Industrial Design.

The Mobile Studio was set in the Freiraum Mobile Stage, a light installation/tool designed to activate (public) spaces and communities, providing a common ground -a safe space -a Freiraum- for participatory performative and collective actions. The Freiraum Mobile Stage is offered to the Freiraum partners as a tool to support their activities. In the context of the Freiraum Festival, half of it traveled to Brussels, where it was included in the local activities.
